Aldeburgh Bathing Machines by Eric Ravilious

'Aldeburgh Bathing Machines' was produced in pencil and watercolour in 1938. Ravilious would have seen these strange contraptions on Eastbourne beach as a boy but by 1938 they were going out of fashion. They were designed by the Edwardians and allowed swimmers to enter and exit the water unobserved.
