Two Women in a Garden Painting by Eric Ravilious

Painted in 1932 Two Women in a Garden is a rare early work by Eric and very important to the understanding of his work. The women are the artist Tirzah Ravilious , his wife, and Charlotte Bawden, who was married to Edward Bawden. The couples had moved to Brick House, Great Bardfield, together in the 1930's. in this peaceful scene Charlotte is reading, while Tizrah is shelling peas in the shade of a tree in a garden. Vegetable beds can be seen in the background.
